Our Services

Pruning

Pruning is one of the best ways to maintain healthy fruit trees. Consistent pruning removes dead and diseased limbs, ensures access for pollinators, balances crop load, and creates ideal sun-to-fruit contact.

By removing crowded limbs, airflow is increased throughout the tree canopy, which decreases pressure from pests and diseases.

We specialize in all varieties of fruit pruning:

  • pome fruit: apples, pears, quinces & lychees

  • stone fruit: peaches, nectarines, plums, cherries, apricots & olives

  • nuts: walnuts, almonds, & pecans

  • & more

We prune orchards of all sizes, from a single tree to hundreds!

Irrigation

As water becomes an increasingly scarce and costly resource in California, it is important to prioritize irrigation systems that use water wisely. A well designed irrigation system will decrease water use and lower your monthly water bill.

We specialize in drip irrigation. Drip irrigation is often the best option for home orchards, gardens, and food forests, because it emits water at the soil surface, decreasing evaporation.

Micro sprinkler systems are another great option, with low-flow fixture heads and spray angles that allow for precise watering.

Our irrigation systems are customized to meet the needs of individual plants and can be controlled from an app on your smartphone.

We are happy to design and install a new irrigation system or to repair and update what currently exists on your property.

Restoration

Heritage orchards are pure treasure! Often with unique history, varieties, and locations, these orchards are a treat that we love caring for and reviving. If you have an older orchard that needs a helping hand, give us a call!

The process of orchard restoration begins with a site visit to assess the health of the trees, discuss the history of the land, and identify the goals of the landholder.

A restoration plan is likely to include pruning, soil testing, composting, mulching, updates or repairs to the irrigation system, and a management contract moving forward.

Management

An orchard in full production is rewarding to keep, but time-consuming to maintain! We offer management contracts for folks who need an extra hand.

Our management practices focus on building soil health and ecosystem resilience. Once those foundations are in place, an edible landscape has a greater potential to thrive.

A management plan might include pruning, composting, mulching, cover cropping, organic pest and fertility management, soil and tissue testing, harvest planning, and more.
